William Leroy “Bill” Harmon, 65, of Alpha, Illinois, passed away on June 29, 2026.

Born on July 26, 1960, in Muscatine, Iowa, Bill was raised in and around Aledo, Illinois, before making his home in Alpha, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Bill was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and easy smile. He had a way of making people laugh and leaving those around him with stories to remember. He enjoyed life’s simple moments, whether spending time with family, sharing stories, or making those around him smile. He will be remembered for his humor, his resilience, and the love he had for those closest to him.

One of Bill’s greatest sources of pride was his service to his country. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Once a Marine, always a Marine, Bill carried that pride with him throughout his life.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Robert Harmon; his mother, Marguerite Cook; his stepfather, Clifford Cook; and his brother, Robert “Bobby” Harmon.

He is survived by his sister, Barb Johanson and her husband, Wayne; his former wife and dear friend, Tracy Harmon; his daughters, Brittney Sardi and her husband, Leon, Brooke Kessinger and her husband, Justin, and Beth Knapp; along with his nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends who will cherish his memory.

Bill’s family finds comfort in remembering the laughter he brought into their lives, the memories they shared, and the love that remained throughout the years. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the family residence, 2718 54th Avenue West, Milan, Illinois. A brief memorial service will begin at approximately 11:15 a.m., followed by a luncheon, fellowship, and a time of sharing memories. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they gather to celebrate Bill’s life.

Semper Fidelis, Marine. Rest easy.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL.
