Vernon Troy Eskridge passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on December 20, 1956, Vernon will be remembered as a kind and funny man whose steady presence, generous spirit, and love for the simple joys of life left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Vernon found happiness in the things he loved most. He loved riding his motorcycle and working on and fixing up classic cars, bringing patience and skill to every project he touched. He loved being outside, and some of his favorite times were spent camping and fishing, especially when he could be near the water. He was also a huge animal lover, and his dogs held a special place in his heart. Music was another important part of his life, and he loved playing the guitar.

Those who knew Vernon will remember not only what he enjoyed, but the kind of man he was. He was someone who could fix anything, and he was always more than happy to help out a friend. His kindness and humor made him easy to be around, and he was a good friend to many people. He took pride in the life he built with his own hands, especially the home he built for himself in New Boston, Illinois. More than anything, he was proud of both of his children and carried deep love for his family.

Vernon is survived by his daughter, Nicole Eskridge; his sister, Jill Stanbaugh; and his grandson, Ryan Eskridge, along with Ryan’s four children. The love of family remained an important part of Vernon’s life, and he leaves behind those who will continue to cherish his memory and carry his stories forward.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Eskridge; his father, Lyndle Eskridge; his mother, Margie Oviyack; his brother, Jimmy McLaughlin; and his sister, Bonnie Daniels.

Vernon Troy Eskridge will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his warm heart, willing hands, love of music, and the many ways he showed up for the people around him. His memory will live on in the family he loved, the friends he helped, and the many moments spent outdoors, by the water, and doing the things that brought him joy.
