Listen to Obituary

Timothy A. Hamblin, 64, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away on July 11, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis East Hospital in Davenport, IA. After a long battle, his combination of medical issues overwhelmed his earthly body.

Born on June 16, 1962, Tim dedicated his life to his faith, family, and friends. He grew up in Coal Valley, IL, before moving to Albuquerque, NM, at 12 years old. He loved the mountains, motorcycles, and fast cars.

In 1992, he started dating the love of his life, Linda. They were married in Rock Island, IL, on December 10, 1994. They welcomed their daughter, Haley, in December of 1996. Though Tim and Linda tragically lost a set of twins in 1999, Tim deeply loved being a husband and a "girl dad." Linda and Haley were his whole world.

Tim possessed a strong work ethic, spending decades working as a painter and contractor. In the late 1970s, he earned recognition as the youngest Journeyman Painter in the state of Illinois. He served many years as a union painter, working on high-profile projects like the Sandia Peak Tramway towers in Albuquerque and the White House fence in Washington, DC. Later, he worked for the Dallas Stars ice hockey team, quickly rising through the ranks from maintenance man to Director of Maintenance Operations. In 2005, he moved his family back to New Mexico to launch his own construction company. He could make anything work with his creativity and innovation. He was highly regarded for his excellent quality of work and strict attention to detail.

Tim was full of life, with a large personality to match. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need. Tim was the person people called for advice, a laugh, or a listening ear. He built a strong network of friends, including his best friend of over 30 years, Steve Whitaker. Tim's passions were many; he loved hugs, plants, Hot Wheels, The Beatles, college basketball, Yahtzee, movies, and his dog, Willow.

Tim held a strong faith and a deep love for the Lord. He knew the value of every moment - and every breath - giving God thanks for each day he woke. He remained steadfast in his belief that God would carry him through to the end. He always told others to "give it to God" and to remember to forgive, often reminding them that life is short.

His life ended at 64 - far too short, but incredibly full. He was loved beyond measure.

He is survived by his wife of 31.5 years, Linda Hamblin; his daughter, Haley Hamblin-Dold (and son-in-law, Tim Dold); his parents, James and Connie Lawver; his mother-in-law Barbara Torgerson (and husband Jerry Torgerson); his brothers, Buddy, Randy, and Johnnie; his cousin, Jeff Lawver, along with many other cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved "Uncle Timmy" dearly.

He was preceded in death by his twin children; his father, Gerald Hamblin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and decades of beloved pets.
