Timothy Greer
November 30, 1961 – December 3, 2025
Timothy “Runner” Greer was born on November 30, 1961, in Del Norte, Colorado. He was the son of Nellie Mae Jones Dunwitte Greer and Robert Greer Jr. Tim was adopted by his beloved mother, Nellie Mae Greer. He grew up in a large and loving family with two brothers and four sisters.
On December 1, 2006, Tim married the love of his life and best friend, Dawn Bay. Together they shared many years of love, companionship, and devotion.
Tim spent most of his life living and working in Illinois and Iowa. A dependable and hardworking man, Tim built his life around honest work and dedication. He worked with horses and farmers in the Erie and Geneseo areas and also drove trucks for several companies. His last employment at FORRET Trucking, Calamus, IA, who has been a great support through this short illness. He was known as “Runner” to many. He was known for his vociferous laugh and snicker when he lied, a strong work ethic, a kind heart, and a willingness to help anyone in need. Tim was loved and respected by many and was always ready to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or friend.
Tim was a devoted Nebraska Huskers and Chicago Bears fan—proudly cheering, “Go Da Bears!”—and had a deep love for his cats, who, along with Dawn, were truly his kids and brought him great joy.
Tim is survived by his wife, Dawn Greer, his mother-in-law Ann Bay; his siblings Robert John Greer (Judy), Jane Milder (Rick Cosgriffe), Linda Strawbridge (Ryan), Sally Kelly (Fred), Yvonne Paddick (David Paddick Jr.), and Scott Greer (Jody), brother-in-law Brandon Bay, sister-in-law Lelia Williams(Dave); and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Tim will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, hardworking spirit, and his big heart. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Erie Christian Church, Erie, Illinois, on December 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
