Steven was a trap shooter in his early years
Member of the Isaak Walton League’s Red Cedar Chapter
He won many competitions and state titles
But really, it was spending time with his dad that he was after
Steve was a beast of a baseball player
Made it all the way to AAA ball
Told stories of how he would’ve gone pro
If it weren’t for the parties and pretty ladies to call
Steve was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter
An all-around outdoorsman, you can say
Shared his love for the water and woods with his kids
And raised the best damn mushroom hunter of today 😎
Steve loved jamming out to Rock' n Roll and the Blues
The likes of artists such as Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan
But his favorite was that man, Elvin Bishop
Songs like “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” and “I’m Gone”
Steve didn’t have much
But what he had, he had plenty
Spending time with friends and family
Good music, good fun, and a cooler of Busch heavy
Steve was great at bringing people together
Sunday Fun Days were the BEST
Spent hours playing competitive Badminton
Yard Dart challenges where you put your skills to the test
So many great memories were had
In that trailer park backyard
People came from all over to have fun
To say Dad ever met a stranger would be hard
Countless nights we spent playing Yahtzee
All of us crowded around his kitchen table
Wanda was weak from battling cancer
But rolling 5 of a kind, she was still able
We love you so much, Dad
It’s see you later, not goodbye
At peace and pain-free, free, and in the words of Norman Greenbaum
You’re watching over us, our Spirit in the Sky
All of the memories we will cherish
All the things he taught us we’ll put to the test
In memory of the great Steven Craig Richards
Great friend and great father, in peace may you rest
