Obituary

Listen to Obituary
Shelly Marie Colvin, 62, of Davenport, passed away on Thursday, June 15th, 2023.

A Memorial Service will be held at Emerge QC Church, 1330 Spruce Hills Dr. in Bettendorf, on July 7, 2023 from 4-6 pm.

She was born Shelly Marie Medlin on December 2nd, 1960, in Rock Island, Illinois to John and Marian Medlin. She came into this world three minutes before her twin sister, Kelly and right by each other's side they remained throughout life. Their bond stands unbroken even in death.

Shelly's greatest joy was raising and loving her two daughters, Nicole and Ashton. She was and will always be their touchstone. She could make a warm and beautiful home out of any place she found herself, a mean plate of garlic spaghetti and had a sassy remark for anyone who crossed her. She was fiercely loyal, caring and loving. Her daughters lived everyday knowing their mother loved them. Throughout her life she fought many battles and, in the end, found herself tougher than anyone ever gave her credit for. To those who loved her she was the sun, to know her light was to be warm and to stand beside her through the storm (she always loved a good thunderstorm) was an honor. She has found her long-awaited, hard-earned peace.

Those left to honor her memory include daughters Nicole Snyder (Larry) and Ashton Gonnering (Stephen); grandchildren Jackson and Ava Snyder, Josephine and Reverence Gonnering; siblings Steven Prouty (Eunice) and Kelly Petersen (Richard); and partner Troy Dabillo. She was preceded in death by her dear mother and father, husband Kelly and brother Jack.
