Sharon Irene Weyer, 83, of Mission, TX, and previously of Staples, MN, passed away on September 19, 2026, in Bettendorf, IA, surrounded by her family.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Visitation will precede the funeral at the church at 10:00 a.m., and a luncheon will follow at 12:00 p.m. Her final resting place will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

Sharon was born on December 24, 1942, in Morgan, MN, the oldest of nine children of Leo and Gertrude (Tauer) Koll. After her high school graduation, she went to a secretarial school in Minneapolis, MN. After completing the training, she worked in the secretarial pool for the CIA in Washington, D.C., until she married the love of her life, Larry Weyer, on November 25, 1961, in Olivia, MN.

She enjoyed being a military wife for almost 20 years before they retired in 1975 to a “hobby farm” in Staples. During her time in Staples, she enjoyed attending her children’s school events, maintaining a large garden, participating in bowling leagues, and being a long-time member of Circle 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After they retired from farming, Sharon and Larry traveled full-time in their fifth wheel trailer before settling in Mission. As the youngest resident of Bentsen Palm RV Park, Sharon enjoyed participating in all of the activities there; her greatest joys were bowling, going to dances several times a week, and sewing baby quilts for the local hospitals.

Sharon is survived by her sons, Michael (Joy) of Staples and Steven of Mission; her daughters, Ellen (Jeffrey) Jones of The Colony, TX, Janis (Chuck) Fagin of Deer River, MN and Brenda (Stephen) Sorensen of Long Grove, IA; her grandchildren, Jason (Laura) Weyer, Megan (Alex) Wohl, Tera (Jesse) Kohn, Renee Paskewitz, Cameron Jones, Kelsey Jones, Erin (Adrian) Pop, Callum Fagin, David Sorensen and Rachel Sorensen; her great-grandchildren, Grace, Ava and Ruby Paskewitz, Abigail and Ian Weyer, Isaiah and Zachary Wohl; and her siblings, Audrey White, Quentin Koll, Mavis Lamka, Cynthia Koll Tengwall, Jody Strommer, and Shelly Gatewood.

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband and infant daughter, Eileen Weyer; her parents; and two brothers, Loren and Galen Koll.
