Saundra "Sandy" Jean (Presley) Roberson, 74, of Port Byron, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2026, following a sudden decline in health.

Born on September 23, 1951, in St. Louis, MO. Sandy was the child of Pattie and Daniel Neumann. She grew up in St. Louis and Moline, IL, in a busy home with 8 brothers and sisters. From an early age, she enjoyed arts and crafts and was active in her church. Her love of creativity blossomed into a lifelong passion, and throughout her life, she found joy in exploring a wide variety of artistic and craft pursuits, delighted in working with a wide range of artistic mediums and handmade crafts throughout the years. Even in her final years, her home featured a dedicated craft room overflowing with paints, brushes, and countless supplies-a testament to the creativity and joy that remained a constant throughout her life.

Sandy graduated from United Township High School in Moline, IL, in 1971. She was actively involved with school activities, including the art club and student leadership. She maintained a number of friendships from her high school days and was involved with several UTHS class reunions over the years. Sandy focused on starting a family after high school, but as her children got older, she worked at a number of jobs in the restaurant and hospitality industry, positions that catered to her outgoing and social nature. Later in life, she worked at The Arc, supporting adults with developmental disabilities in their job training program. Sandy found the work extremely fulfilling and spoke highly of the individuals she met in that program. The Arc was her last place of employment before retiring.

Sandy met the first love of her life, Cody Wiley, in high school, and they married in 1972. They started their family in East Moline, IL, and eventually moved to Bettendorf, IA, where they raised their two daughters. Sandy was very active in her children's lives and schools, including serving as a Girl Scout troop leader, basketball team coach, and grade school "room parent" supporting classroom and school celebrations and events. Her children fondly remember the creativity she brought to birthday parties and the homemade decorations and special traditions that made holidays like Halloween, Christmas, and Easter so memorable. Among their favorite memories were the handmade Advent calendars she created each Christmas, using Styrofoam cups filled with small gifts and candies for each day leading up to the holiday.

Outside of work, Sandy loved creating arts and crafts, entertaining friends, trying new recipes, caring for her kitties (including feral ones in her neighborhood), music, and dancing in her younger years. No matter where her family lived, Sandy delighted in sending festive birthday and holiday cards filled with glitter and confetti, so much so that loved ones learned to open them slowly. After moving to Louisiana with her later husband, Denny, Sandy developed a love for Southern cooking and began writing a cookbook to introduce fellow Northerners to the regional flavors of Louisiana and New Orleans cuisine. After returning to the Quad Cities, Sandy developed a close bond with her niece Lili and loved hosting her for sleepovers and special outings.

Sandy is survived by her daughters, Danelle Wiley (Jerry Wright) of LeClaire, Iowa, and Terri "TJ" Wiley (Rohith Sood) of Portland, Oregon; her former husband, Cody Wiley of Moline, Illinois; her sister, Sonja Neumann-Balluff; her brothers, Gilbert "Peanut" Nicholas, Joe Neumann, Art Neumann, and Andy Neumann; and her granddaughter, Radha Wiley-Sood.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Dennis "Denny" Roberson; her parents, Pattie Neumann and Daniel Neumann; and her siblings, Jackie Presley, Terry "Wayne" Neumann, and Daniel Jr. Neumann.

People who were lucky enough to have Sandy in their lives know that Sandy was a loving, generous, creative, and hopeful person. In accordance with Sandy's wishes, there will be no formal funeral or public viewing services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
