Ruth C. Ingalls, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 27, 2025, in Davenport, Iowa, at the age of 84. Born on August 23, 1940, in Walcott, Iowa, Ruth was a vibrant presence to all who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories and an enduring legacy.
Ruth dedicated 18 years of her life as a school bus driver for Spring Lake Public Schools, a role that allowed her to nurture her love for children. She was known for her unwavering kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand in any situation, embodying a spirit of generosity that resonated deeply with those around her. Ruth was an active member of her church, demonstrating her love for her Lord through her involvement in various church activities.
Education was also important to Ruth, as she completed high school and was engaged in various youth organizations, including the 4H Club, Campfire Girls, and Girl Scouts. Throughout her life, she maintained a passion for learning and community engagement.
Family was at the core of Ruth's existence; she loved spending quality time with her daughters, Nola Ingalls, Lynn Harris, and Amy Ingalls, as well as her son, Aaron Ingalls. Her grandchildren—Jessica (Thomas) Gould, Ruth Harris, Marlin (Christie) Ingalls, and Clifford Ingalls—brought her immense joy, as did her great-grandchildren, Alex Rubeck, Lee Gould, Ryan Gould, Emmett, and Emersyn Ingalls. Ruth's family was not limited to her immediate descendants; she held a special bond with her sister-in-law, Nancy (Eric) Stock, her godson Kevin Wilder, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth had a flair for decorating her home and grounds, which reflected her warm personality and artistic touch. Her enthusiasm for crafting and gardening brought life and color to her surroundings. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, putting puzzles together, and camping and traveling with friends and family, all of which contributed to her loving spirit.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Ingalls, and her parents, Harold and Helen Stock. She also felt the loss of her siblings, Rose, Steven, and Eric Stock, as well as Joyce (Warren) Wilder. She is survived by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched during her lifetime.
In remembering Ruth C. Ingalls, we honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to her family, community, and faith. Her spirit of love and kindness will forever be celebrated in the hearts and lives of those who knew her.
