Rollo James Hildebrant, 66, of Long Grove, IA, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, IA.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, brother, best friend, uncle, and Papa. Rollo, whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and strength to everyone who knew him. He was truly selfless, always putting his family before himself and showing unconditional love in both the big moments and the quiet everyday ones.

Rollo found peace and joy in nature. Whether he was out fishing at sunrise, hunting in the woods, or simply enjoying the outdoors, that was where he felt most at home. His fishing stories and wise tales could keep everyone listening for hours, often filled with humor, lessons, and memories that will now be treasured forever.

One of the ways he showed love best was through cooking. He loved gathering family at the cabin, making sure everyone was fed, comfortable, and together. To him, those moments were more than just meals; they were memories being made with the people he loved most.

He also had a quiet generosity that touched so many lives. From random acts of kindness to helping strangers without expecting anything in return, he lived with a rare kind of compassion that made the world gentler for those around him.

Rollo was one of a kind, deeply loved, deeply respected, and impossible to replace. Though our hearts are broken, we will carry his stories, his laughter, and his love with us always.

Rollo is survived by his children: Jami(Derek) Irwin, Logan Hildebrant, Rochelle(Nick) Simms, and Kaitlyn Schmidt. His Grandchildren: Vivian(Alex) Hall, Dustin(Mavery) Irwin, Angel(Michael) Powers, Hunter Butner, Marybeth Hooper, Jack, and Haven. Great granddaughter Roseleigh. His Siblings: Betty(Clyde) Eversole, Wayne(Nancy) Jr. Hildebrant, Sherry(Mike) Smith, Tina(Chris) Gionti, Roger(Kim) Hildebrant, Jason(Cary) Rubsamen, Dianne(Dave) Fahrenkrog, Billy(Leslie) Hildebrant, and Randy Hildebrant. He is preceded in death by: Wayne(Harriett) Hildebrant Sr, Arlene(Vernie) Rubsamen, Raymond Hildebrant, Becky Rubsamen, and Leslee Hildebrant.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL.
