Robert Lewis Owen, 60, of Davenport, formerly of Iowa City, IA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 6, 2026, with his beloved wife, Lisa, at his side.

Robert was born to parents Ann and Charlie on May 3rd, 1966, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. He graduated from Iowa City High School as part of the class of 1984.

An avid outdoorsman, Robert's daring passion for adventure led him to become an elk hunting guide, traversing through the Rockies on horseback. Crossing the Continental Divide to return home, he met the love of his life, Lisa Owen, whom he married on September 28th, 1996, becoming a father to his son, Jake. After having his second son, Cody, the family owned a fishing resort and diner on Lake Mille Lacs in Minnesota. Once they sold the resort to focus on family, he had his youngest son, Drew, and moved back to Iowa City.

Robert went on to work for 24 years as a master electrician, taking on impressive projects like the Hansen Football Performance Center and the restoration of the Iowa Memorial Union.

While Robert's work ethic was recognized by many, he was even more devoted to his family. He and Lisa encouraged their sons to pursue their passions, and watched proudly as they became a chef, musician, and writer. As a family, they loved to hunt for deer, pheasant, and morel mushrooms, and their outdoor activities included fishing, hiking, and camping.

Robert is survived by Lisa, his beloved wife of 30 years, and their sons Drew Owen of Iowa City, Cody Owen of Minneapolis, and Jacob Lindaman of Tacoma, as well as his siblings Mike Owen (Deb), Tom Owen (Tasha), Carol Swartzendruber (Kevin), and Patrick Owen (Tina), along with his granddaughter Iris Rasmussen. On Lisa's side of the family, he is survived by his parents-in-law Gene and Jeanne Niemann, brothers-in-law Darren Niemann (Maria), Marc Niemann (Mattana), and John Niemann (Karla), as well as sisters-in-law Denise Harris (Rob), Sue VanCamp (Scott), and Jennifer Wahlstrom (Neil).

Bob will be missed by his nieces, nephews, and cousins, to whom his exploits and stories are family legend.

The family appreciates the support of their many friends and relatives as his illness progressed over the last year, and thanks those who generously donated to his memorial fund, the proceeds of which have helped greatly with the cremation and remembrance services.

The cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, of Moline, IL. The burial will be a private event attended by Robert's immediate family.

A get-together to share memories and stories will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 12th, at the Knights of Columbus Family Center in Iowa City. Attendees are invited to dress casually, as Bob wanted.

Robert requested that, in lieu of flowers, those who wish to show support can make a donation to the non-profit organization Pheasants Forever.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on his memory wall at www.mvcremation. com.
