Robert Cather, Sr., 60, of Sherrard, IL, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose life was centered around family, passion, and making lasting memories.

Bob is survived by his mother Rae Jean Cather; his beloved wife Patricia Cather; and his children Robert (Ashley Echols) Cather Jr, Tabitha (Travon) Trice, and Brandon (Ashley Coyne) Cather.

He was a proud grandfather to Kaylee (Devan) Zimmerman, Kaleb Cather, Kyai Cather, Dahlia Cather, Robert Cather lll, Noah Cather, Isiah Nunn, Marley Cather, Marcellus Trice, Montana Trice, Maverick Trice, Braelynn Cather, Brady Cather, and Bennett Cather. 

He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Luna Noel Marie Zimmerman and Kamilyah Marie Sky Hileman who brought him immense joy. 

Bob was proceeded in death by his father David Lee Cather Sr and his brother David Lee Cather Jr.

Bob had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found hunting and fishing, or go kart racing with his sons. He took pride in painting cars, enjoyed working with his hands, and treasured every moment spent with his family. Music was always part of his life and he especially loved listening to Bob Marley, whose words often reflected Bobs outlook on life. 

Bob will be remembered for his strength, his laughter, his love for his family, and the countless memories he leaves behind. His legacy lives on through generations who will carry his love forward.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, 1811 15th Street Place, Moline.
