Rita Ann Tomkins

Rita Ann Tomkins, 65, of Silvis, IL, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025 at home due to complications from heart and kidney diseases. A private family service has been arranged and cremation rites will be accorded.

Rita was born on December 31, 1959, in Dubuque, IA to Elmer “Bud” Jaeger and Marlene (Becker) Eversoll. She married her husband, Robert, on October 25, 1989 and they shared a total of 47 years together.

She enjoyed spending time with family, listening to classic tunes, watching TV, playing and winning cribbage and watching the cars drive by in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed her work at Ranew’s in East Moline, working at the factory for over 26 years.

She is survived by her husband and partner of 47 years, Robert; sons Ryan (Chris Hance) Tomkins of Huntersville, NC, and Paul Tomkins of Moline, IL; sisters Patricia (Richard) Sheppard of Silvis, IL, Lynn (Jeff) Lamson of Baraga, MI, and Paula Jaeger of Davenport, IA; brothers Richard Jaeger of Morrison, IL and James (Wendy) Jaeger of Dubuque, IA; many nieces and nephews; her dog Dolly and granddogs Malone, Bruno and Milo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Marlene and step parents Patrick, Elaine and Beverly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to local animal shelters.
