Richard "Rick" Duane Derby, 66, of Bettendorf passed away on March 18, 2025, in the company of his family at Clarissa Cook Hospice House. Rick was born on November 2, 1958, to Oliver and Jean (Aucutt) Derby. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1977 and worked for many years as a route driver in and around the Quad Cities.

In recent years Rick lived simply, enjoying visits with his sons, chatting with a neighbor, or watching reruns of old western movies. 

Rick was married to Sue Derby from 1979 to 2009. Sue remained a friend to Rick and cared for him in the months following his recent cancer diagnosis, with the help and support of their three sons.

Rick is survived by Sue; sons, Joey (Molly) Derby, Jon (JoAnn Turnmeyer) Derby, and Eric Derby; granddaughters, Vaida, Quinn, and Charlie; sisters, Denise (Bill) Meck and Kelly Long; and sister-in-law, Juli (Mike) Sieben.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Derby.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
