Richard Saffle

Richard Bruce Saffle (Rick), 68, passed away on September 4, 2025, at Harmony Utica Ridge, Davenport, Iowa.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, 1811 15th Street Place, Moline, IL.

A proud veteran, Rick served in the United States Navy and Army until his honorable discharge in 1979. He loved to share stories from his time in the service, often recounting them with humor and vivid detail. His patriotism was a core part of who he was.

Rick will be dearly missed and fondly remembered as the uncle who took his niece fishing, the tech expert for friends and family, and someone who—though quiet and reserved—held deep affection for his coworkers, neighbors, and loved ones. His dry wit, steady presence, and generous heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his sister, Lois Saffle Cook (John); his niece, Angela Hinds (James); his nephew, John Paul Cook (Naomi); and his great-nieces and nephews: Sarah Stancil (Garrett), CJ Hinds (Leah), Grace Fannin, and Scott Hinds. He also leaves behind four great-great-nieces and nephews: AJ, Eliza, Rory, and Oliver.

Rick’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the stories he shared. He will be missed more than words can express.
