Priscilla Ann Landsee, a loving mother, social worker, and caregiver with a compassionate heart and a stubborn streak, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at Allure of Sterling. She was 74 years old. Born on July 19, 1951, in Joplin, Missouri, Priscilla lived a life defined by love and resilience.
Priscilla spent her career helping others — often the very people society overlooks. Through her work with Lutheran Social Services, Kreider Services, and the Northwestern Illinois Center for Independent Living (NICIL), she advocated for individuals with developmental needs and for the elderly, offering the kind of empathy that came from lived experience. She was the kind of woman who could find laughter in hardship and beauty in the everyday.
In her late thirties, while raising her children and juggling a thousand responsibilities, Priscilla went back to school — a decision that embodied her spirit of persistence. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Aging from Northern Illinois University, proving that it’s never too late to begin again.
Priscilla is survived by her children: Rob McDonald and Sheryl Long, Jay McDonald, Bobbi and Desirae Landsee, Skylar Landsee; and by her grandchildren: Kirsten Taylor, Rachel McDonald, Jackson Landsee, and Jameson Landsee, who each brought her deep pride and joy.
She is also survived by her siblings Naomi Bubnis, Jerry and Bettye Walling, Linda Hansen, Brinda and Jerry Winger, Marty Kobbeman; her nieces and nephews Wayne and Veronica Bailey, Nicole and Kerry Gibson, Amanda Buikema, Eleanor Shuey, Melissa Hansen-Marsilio, Eric Hansen, Courtney Gillette, Bridgit Gregory; and her dear friend Elaine Strelow, whose companionship brought laughter and light to her life.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her mother, Rue Romano; her sister, Kay Kobbeman; her brothers Richard Bubnis, Homer Lee Walling, Robert Lynn Walling, Roger Dale Murphy; and her cherished friend Jeri Landsee.
Priscilla wasn’t perfect — she struggled, she stumbled, and she sometimes pushed people away. But she also loved fiercely, helped selflessly, and taught her family what it means to keep trying even when it hurts. She will be remembered not only for her compassion and humor but for her humanity — real, complicated, and deeply felt.
