It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mother, Pat Petersen.
Patricia Ann Petersen, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away on July 31st 2026. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial. A private service and the scattering of ashes will be held by family at a later date.
Pat was born to Earl and Goldie (Herrick) Maine on September 8, 1933. She was one of nine children and the identical twin of Beverly (Maine) Speer. Pat was the last survivor of her siblings. Pat graduated in 1951 from Wapello/Morning Sun High School. She was previously married to and divorced from George Daufeldt. George preceded her in death in July 2001. Pat and Allen Petersen were united in marriage in July 1976. Allen preceded her in death in June 2011. He, too, was cremated, and his ashes will be scattered with Pat's.
Pat and Allen enjoyed ballroom dancing and were members of several dance clubs. They were also charter members of The Catfish Jazz Society and belonged to several other jazz societies, including The Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Society. In addition to dancing and music, Pat and Allen enjoyed travel. They traveled to Portugal, Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, and Germany. They also took many trips to Mexico and Hawaii.
Pat's hobbies included sewing, reading, and gardening. She was also a Red Cross volunteer, a member of The Putnam Museum Guild and The Plus 60 Club. In addition, in previous years she was a Brownie Scout Leader, a Home Room Mother, as well as being active in the Parent Teacher Associations of her children's schools. At the age of 40, Pat fulfilled a lifelong dream of obtaining her pilot's license, following in the footsteps of her brothers.
Pat is survived by her children. They are: Judith Daufeldt and her husband, Daniel Curry, of New Zealand; Juneene (Daufeldt) Felderman and her husband, Gary, of Davenport, Iowa; and John Daufeldt and his wife, Susan, of Conroy, Iowa. She is also survived by her Sister-in-law Ginny Maine and niece Jackie Griffin of Wapello, Iowa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
