KEWANEE — Michael "Mick" Lester Vigor, 76, of Kewanee, passed away on Friday, August 21st, 2026, at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.

Mick was born on July 29, 1950, in Kewanee, Illinois, to Lester and Josephine (Dollander) Vigor. Growing up in Henry County, he was educated locally and graduated from Wethersfield High School.

On June 17, 1972, Mick was united in marriage to Lois Nicholson at the United Methodist Church of Kewanee. Together, they shared over five decades of deep devotion and family life.

Mick was a master craftsman by trade, spending his life working as a bricklayer. He spent his early career with the family business, Vigor and Sons, Inc., which he and his brother later owned and operated as Vigor Brothers following their father's passing in 1982.

A true outdoorsman, Mick was an avid sportsman who dedicated himself to the Illinois whitetail deer hunting season, never missing a year until rheumatoid arthritis kept him from the field. He also deeply loved fishing. A pheasant he harvested in the 70’s hung on his living room wall and held a record at the time for the longest tail feathers. He raised and bred show rabbits and also planted a garden every single year.

He built and operated gas-powered model airplanes. He enjoyed woodworking and made much of the furniture in his home. He loved grilling and smoking meats for family gatherings.

For over twenty years, his mornings almost always began at The Red Apple restaurant in Kewanee, where he and Lois gathered with a circle of friends over breakfast. He also enjoyed excursions to the casino, joining a group of friends to play the slot machines.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Vigor; his children, Matthew (Leslie) Vigor of Quincy and Kathy (Jeremy) Bailey of Viola; his brothers, Kent Vigor of Kewanee and Bryon (Marti) Vigor of Galva; and his cherished grandchildren, Michael Bailey, Henry Vigor, Simon Vigor, Tabitha Vigor, and Lydia Vigor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Josephine Vigor; his sister, Christy Jo Vigor; and his sister-in-law, Becky Vigor.

His wish was to be cremated, directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, Moline, IL.

Family and friends are invited to leave condolences on his memory wall at www.mvcremation.com.
