Michael “Mike” Berry, affectionately known as "Bear," "Blue," and "Big Mike," passed away on October 13, 2025, in his hometown of Muscatine, Iowa. Born on November 22, 1944, Michael was a lifelong resident of Muscatine, leaving an enduring legacy within his family and friends.

Mike devoted the majority of his career to the steel industry, excelling as a Rolling Mill Supervisor at North Star Steel in Wilton, Iowa, and later as a Tool & Die Machinist for Schmarje Tool in Muscatine. His commitment to his work and the craftsmanship he provided were hallmarks of his professional life. In retirement, he found joy working alongside his youngest son at Optimae LifeServices.

Mike's passions extended far beyond his vocations. He was an avid motorcycle aficionado, cultivating a collection of bikes that he cherished and sharing his love of everything on two wheels with his beloved children and grandchildren. His zest for life was further expressed through his enjoyment of the news, YouTube shows, movies, and a diverse range of music. He had a profound appreciation for the sounds of Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, Neil Young, James McMurtry, and Bob Dylan. Conversations with Mike often turned to memories of the past, where his astonishing recall of details captivated all who had the pleasure of listening.

Mike leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Christi, along with his sons Mike “PeeWee” Berry & wife Michelle Berry, and Mark “Killer” Berry & wife Julie “Bug” Berry, respectively. He is also survived by his daughter, Amy “Piglet” Torres, and her husband, Arnold Torres. The legacy he created continues through his grandchildren: Alex Berry & fiancée Jenna Brockert; Isaac Berry; Jimi Berry; and Michael Berry & wife Tearney Berry; Gabe Torres and Bella Torres. Additionally, he is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Winston, Freya, and Amelia.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Berry; his mother, Hattie Berry; and his brother, Richard “Dick” Berry. Together, they will be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

As we celebrate the life of Michael Berry, we honor a man whose dedication to family, passion for life, and tales of the past will truly be missed. His spirit will continue to ride alongside those who knew him, forever cherished in their memories.
