Mary C. Woody, affectionately known as Cindy, departed from this earthly realm on March 14, 2025, at the serene Hope Creek Nursing in Moline, Illinois. She was born on October 8, 1965, in Newark, Ohio, where the roots of her caring spirit took hold in the heart of a nurturing family.

Endowed with an abundance of love and an unwavering commitment to those around her, Cindy carved a path as both a home care provider and an esteemed volunteer for senior citizens in Rock Island County. Her life was a testament to self-sacrifice and compassion, often extending her warm embrace to those who needed it most. A resolute and intelligent woman, she approached life with a passion that was palpable, guiding all who knew her with her light.

Cindy was the proud mother of her sons, including her beloved Nathan, who preceded her in death, and she is survived by Chaz Hottinger, Carl Hall, Travis Hottinger, as well as her cherished daughters, Savannah Hottinger and Katherine Shonenbarger. Each of her children carries a piece of her spirit, nurtured and bolstered by her enduring love and dedication.

In addition to her family, Cindy will be remembered fondly by many for her talents, particularly in the realm of arts and crafts, as well as her adventurous spirit in riding motorcycles. She possessed a captivating curiosity that drove her to write and research, showcasing her as a truth seeker in every aspect of her life. Her profound connection to God further illuminated her journey, anchoring her values and guiding her interactions with an open heart.

The legacy of Cindy Woody is woven with threads of love, courage, and resilience. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Smith, her sister Mitzie Smith, her sister Lorie Smith, her cousin Jack “Jackie” Hottinger, and her uncle Jack Hottinger. Each of these souls will greet her beyond the veil of life, and they, along with her living family, will carry the impact of her love forever.
