Mary Ellen Elfgen, 54, of Davenport, IA, passed away on Thursday July 2, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 7th, 1971 in Iowa City, she was the cherished daughter of the late Mary Ann Tutor Elfgen and Andrew Dallas Elfgen. Mary spent her life bringing warmth, kindness, and love to everyone she met.

She was a devoted Mother who poured her heart into her family. She is survived by her children, Steven(Melissa) Barnes, Kaylynn Schaefer, and Kristin(Joe) Forari who were all her greatest pride and joy. Also, she was a loving partner of 22 years to her significant other David Laurent. 

Mary loved watching her true crime and paranormal ghost stories, listening to her favorite music, playing SkipBo, all her computer games, and reading her books.

But above all, she cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren Molly, Joseph, LilyAnn, Landyn, Damon, Brantley, and Ashton.

Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her sisters Sharon Cox, Karla Elfgen, Andrea Burch, Melissa Elfgen, and Krystal Zeleny.

 She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials can be made to Mary's children for Mary's ashes will be buried with her Grandmother at Fairmount Cemetary.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3- 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Mississippi Valley Cremation, 1811 15th Street Place, Moline.
