Martin Elliott Swanson, 62, of Davenport, IA, passed away on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, at his residence. There will be a private family ceremony.

Martin was born on April 6, 1963, in Davenport, IA. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1981. He served in the United States Navy from 1982 to 1985 as a member of the SeaBees. He served in the Navy reserves until 1988. Martin was a proud veteran.

He was well educated. He obtained his Engineering degree from the University of Iowa in 1992 and his MBA from St. Ambrose University in 1995. He was employed for many years by the Quad City Times.

Martin was a devoted member of many fraternal organizations, including the Davenport Mohassan Grotto Chapter #22 and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Martin was loved by his family. They will remember him always.

Survivors include his father Donald W (Sally) Swanson, Sue (Dennis) Zuber, Carol (Robert) Lauder, David (Christie) Swanson, Joseph Swanson, and Steven (Sara) Swanson; along with nieces and nephews Jon and Jeremy (Michelle) Zuber, Rob, Mary, and Steve Lauder, Conrad (Kia) Swanson, Emily (Matt) Mapes, and Allison (Keigan) Scott; and also including 8 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Dailey, his stepfather Carl Dailey, and his brother Donald Swanson Jr.

Memorials may be left to the Davenport Mohassan Grotto Chapter #22.
