Mark Steven Rich, a beloved figure known for his kindness and humility, passed away at his home in East Moline, Illinois, on June 4, 2025, after an extended illness. He was born on November 16, 1960, in Davenport, Iowa, and grew to embody a spirit of joy and devotion throughout his life.
Mark was a man of many passions, but none were more significant than his love for his family. He cherished every moment spent with his life partner, Brenda Betcher, and took pride in being a dedicated grandpa to his granddaughter, Makayla. His excitement shone particularly during the joyful visits he shared with his sisters and brother, where simple treats like Pepsi and Ding Dongs brought laughter and warmth to their gatherings.
A lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions, Mark found joy in watching football games, relishing not just the live action but also the reruns. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, enjoying fishing as a pastime that allowed him to connect with nature and reflect on life.
Mark is survived by his loving partner, Brenda, and his children: son Zach Rich, daughter Miranda Rich, stepdaughter Nichole Steffenson, and stepson Stephen Steffenson. His legacy continues through his granddaughter, Makayla, who will carry forward the values of love and devotion he instilled. Mark also leaves behind his cherished siblings—sisters Kathy Howell, Patricia Moore, and Linda Tague, and brother Thomas Rich, who will always hold dear the memories they created together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Emma Rich, and by his brothers Larry Rich and David Rich, along with sister Sandy Jones. Their memories will forever resonate within the hearts of those who loved him.
Mark Steven Rich will be remembered not only for his vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to family but also for the kindness he shared with everyone he met. His presence will be sorely missed, yet his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew him.
