Margaret
Stockwell
August 14, 1964 – April 12, 2026
Margaret Kathleen Stockwell, a radiant soul whose joy and vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, in Iowa City, Iowa. Born on August 14, 1964, in Moline, Illinois, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound dedication to her family and community.
Margaret was a woman of many talents and roles—she served her community as an electoral judge, shared her passion for swimming as a swim instructor, and expressed her creativity and care through her work as a seamstress. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was deeply engaged in her hobbies, including sewing, crafting, cooking, and nurturing her treasured collection in the miniature association, a group she was proud to be part of.
Her personality was nothing short of inspiring. Margaret was always happy and vibrant, a genuinely bright and colorful presence whose laughter could light up any room. She had an extraordinary gift for putting a smile on everyone’s face and making those around her feel loved and accepted. Her love for her large extended family was boundless; she embraced all as her own, weaving a wide circle of love that extended far beyond blood ties. Holidays were particularly special to her—a time to be loud, joyful, and surrounded by those she held dear.
Margaret’s proudest joys in life were her roles within her family—first as a devoted mother, then as a cherished grandmother, and finally, as a beloved great-grandmother. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her father, Donald; brothers Donald (Michelle) and Jack Sr.; children Eli (Evelyn), Veronica (Justin), and Erica; grandchildren, Kayla (Cameron), Tyler, Maranda, Dominic, Tristan, SoFie, Jillian, Samantha, Liam, Cullen, and Jolene; and her great-granddaughter Vivian. Together with her extended family, they stand as a testament to the warmth and inclusivity that defined her life.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Cindy, and her husband, Scales. Though deeply missed, their memories live on in the stories she lovingly shared and the enduring love she fostered among all who knew her.
Her joy in singing, dancing, and crafting mirrored the colorful threads she wove through the fabric of her life—a fabric rich with happiness, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. Margaret Stockwell’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of everyone she touched, a truly happy soul who made the world a better place simply by being herself.
A celebration of life will be held at the Matherville Eagles Hall on May 2nd from 2-6 pm!
