Linda Jane Evans (Linda Jane Messer), lovingly remembered as a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away quietly in hospice at the Vistas in Bettendorf, Iowa on April 28, 2025. Born on November 6, 1947, in Muscatine, Iowa, she lived a life marked by a profound dedication to helping others and a passion for learning.

Linda embarked on her career with a strong foundation in nursing, earning her RN and BSN from Iowa Wesleyan College. Her skillful hands and compassionate heart served her well as she worked as a nurse in VA hospitals and University Hospitals in Iowa City, as well as Lutheran Homes in Muscatine. Her career further extended to support roles at Messer Law Office, Pasternak Law Office, and concluded at Guardian Angels Nursing Care in Milan, Illinois. In addition to her nursing credentials, Linda also achieved a law degree from the University of Iowa, demonstrating her commitment to personal growth and service.

A captain in the Army Reserves, Linda's military service reflected her sense of duty and resilience.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Linda brought joy into the lives of her family and friends through her many hobbies and interests. She took great pleasure in cooking, sharing her culinary specialties such as jello cake, Texas sheet cake, Swedish tea rings, and fried chicken, which became beloved staples at family gatherings. Linda had a playful side, enjoying writing, playing dominoes, and traveling to view lighthouses, creating wonderful memories that will be cherished.

Linda’s vibrant personality was characterized by her great sense of humor and her genuine love for others. Her legacy will continue through her beloved family, which includes her daughters Dawn Bequeaith, Dianne McMinn and Christina McCracken, her son-in-law Scott McCracken, grandchildren Zak Harper, Olivia Harper, Alex Harper, Nate Bequeaith, Nic Hill, Jonah Hill, Jacob Messer, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Larry Harper, and her brother, John Harper. Their memories and lives will forever be intertwined in the hearts of those who loved Linda.

Linda Jane Evans (Messer) leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and laughter. Her life was a testament to the impact one individual can have on the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
