Kathleen Kyle Ryan, 78, of DeWitt, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2025, at Iowa City University Hospital. An Open House Memorial is scheduled for May 17th at her residence in DeWitt.

Kathleen Anita Kyle was born on July 14, 1947, the daughter of James and Minnie Faye (Blakney) Kyle. As the family expanded, they made multiple moves between Indiana and Texas, with her graduating from high school in Washington, Indiana. She then attended Lamar State College of Technology in Beaumont, earning credits while also working at NASA. A special calling led her to leave Texas for Iowa, where she eventually settled in Dewitt, which she proudly called home for the next 50 years.

Kathleen received her Bachelor's Degree from St. Ambrose University, setting the foundation for a fulfilling career as a school teacher. She adored her kids and had a special gift for keeping all her students engaged using her creative style. Upon retirement, she applied her love for nature to become a Master Gardener. Kathleen not only cultivated beauty in her own yard but also fostered a sense of community through her interest in plants and flowers. She enjoyed volunteering her time with the elderly, going to the fitness center, visiting with her friends, and spending time with her family.

Kathleen is survived by her son Graham Porth, grandson Jacob Porth, Colleen and Maureen Ryan, brother Keith Kyle, sister Kimberlee Kyle, sister-in-law Audrey Kyle, five nephews, and a niece. She was preceded in death by her partner Charles Ryan, her brother Kirk Kyle, and her parents.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on her memory page at www.mvcremation.com.
