Karen Lee Huntsberger, 70, of LeClaire, Iowa, died on May 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by her immediate family and her three loving cats, Luna, Cash, and Fender.

Karen was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on April 8, 1955, daughter of Francis and Joan Huch. Karen's family moved to Tonawanda, NY, when she was nine, and in 1972, the family moved to Bettendorf, Iowa.

She graduated from Bettendorf High School, class of 1973. She attended Marycrest College before beginning her successful career with Merrill, Lynch, Fenner and Smith in Davenport. She began as a wire operator and progressed to executive secretary, then transferred to Tucson, AZ, to become Vice President of Operations in the Merrill Lynch complex there. After winning a successful battle with breast cancer, she decided to retire in September of 2006 after a 30-plus-year career. Retirement brought the family back to Iowa.

Karen and David were united in marriage on November 28, 1980, and became the proud parents of daughters Kristin and Kara.

Karen was a loving and caring small animal lover. She raised and showed CFA Persian cats and later AKC purebred Pomeranian dogs. Both groups won many awards.

Karen was an avid reader, enjoyed a health and fitness lifestyle, birding, and her beautiful iris flower gardens.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David, daughters Kristin Huntsberger of Weatherford, TX, Kara Huntsberger of Portland, TN and five stepchildren, Mary Wadle and her husband Stephen of Beloit, WI, William Huntsberger of Davenport, IA, James Huntsberger and his wife Kara of Durant, IA, Jeffry Huntsberger of Los Angeles, CA and Suzy and Barrett Theis of Damestown, MD, and 8 step grandchildren.

Karen is also survived by her siblings, Gary and wife Debbie Huch of Greenville, MI, Brian and his wife Debra Huch of Davenport, IA, Sheila and her husband Terry Hancks of Moline, IL, Jeff Huch of Bettendorf, IA, Amy and her husband Joe Geraci of Bettendorf, IA and Adam Huch of St. Joseph, MI.

To honor Karen, memorials may be made to your local animal shelter.

A memorial gathering and inurnment will be held at a later date.
