Judy Holden, 65, of Wever, passed away on September 26, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following surgical complications.

Judy was born on February 19, 1961, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of John and Jan Shriver. She grew up in Fort Madison, Iowa, and was a graduate of Fort Madison High School. She furthered her education at Northeast Missouri State in Kirksville, Missouri.

On September 19, 1981, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Clayton Holden, in Fort Madison. They welcomed two children, Jeffrey in 1982 while living in Houston, Texas, and Jannelle in 1985 while living in Des Moines, Iowa, and later settled in Manchester, Iowa. In 2005, they returned to Lee County to be close to family.

Judy worked throughout her adult life in a variety of settings, enjoying most of the last 15 years working with kids in both the Burlington school district and Southeastern Community College.

She enjoyed bowling, decorating for the holidays, garage sales, shopping, and slot machines at the casino, but most of all, she loved her family. Judy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite times were those with her seven grandchildren. She was known for her huge heart and helping hands for anyone she knew.

Survivors include her husband, Clayton of Wever; two children, Jeffrey (Sarah) Holden of Grinnell and Jannelle (Matt) Mozingo of Urbana; seven grandchildren, Isabelle, Kinnick, Carver, and Amelia Holden and Drew, Nathan, and Allison Mozingo; her mother, Jan Shriver of Fort Madison; two siblings, Jen (Mark) Wise of Fort Madison and Julie (Dean) Hoschek of Magnolia, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, John Shriver.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 11th from 1 pm to 4 pm at Fort Riverview Pavilion, in Fort Madison, Iowa. Judy’s family invites those who knew and loved her to join them during this time. Please bring your favorite memories and stories to share as we hold her close in our hearts.
