John
Wallace
Sep 17, 1949 — Sep 29, 2026
Silvis
John Dale Wallace, 77, of Silvis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born September 17, 1949, the son of Ivan and Darlene Wallace. He was a graduate of Rock Island High School, Class of 1967. John married Janice Campana on December 28, 1968, his high school sweetheart. John had been employed at McLaughlin Body Company for 35 years, retiring in 2016.
John enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family -- especially his grandchildren! He loved hiking and organizing the yearly canoe trip that so many enjoyed being part of for over 40 years. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he enjoyed teaching others and sharing Bible truths with them. He let these truths affect his life and shape him into a better person, and wanted other people to experience the same benefits. His 'gift of gab' helped him share what he learned with many other people. His hope was an anchor in his life, and we are thankful that he instilled that same hope within us.
He was always someone you could count on and willing to help. He was a great dad and even better grandpa. He had his own way of doing things, and that is something we will always remember about him. We are thankful for the many memories we made together and for all the things he taught us along the way. He will be truly missed.
John is survived by his wife, Jan; their 8 children, Cindy (Josh) Angusich, John (Kate) Wallace, Eli (Jessica) Wallace, Andy (Mindy) Wallace, Jesse Wallace, Tim Wallace, Leah (Michael) Constantino, Jenna (Isaac) Cerda; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. His sister Linda Vondergathen and his brother Karl (Roxie) Wallace. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roy Wallace, and his brother-in-law Dave Vondergathen.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on his memory page at www.mvcremation.com.
