John George Ovens Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family. 

John was born September 4th, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Marie and George Cohen. He married Janice Jones on February 7th, 1970. John was a Private in the United States Army. After his time in the Military, he drove a truck for Eagle Foods and Yellow Freight. 

John is survived by his Wife, Janice Ovens; sons, George Ovens, Shawn (Heather) Ovens, John (Joy) Ovens Jr., and Greg (Jeanette) Ovens; grandchildren, Tierra (Brendan) Hopple and Coral (Eric) Hernandez; and great-grandchildren, Hailey, Jude, Naomi, Elora, and Beckett. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and George Cohen, his sons Johnny and Billy, his Granddaughter Brynn Ovens, and his great-granddaughter Arabella. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 27, 2025, at The Milan American Legion from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Services and a Luncheon will be provided. In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to his spouse, Janice Ovens.
