Born on August 15, 1946, John lived a life filled with love, commitment, and kindness, embodying the quiet strength that so many admired.
John's journey in life was marked by dedication and hard work. He graduated from Aledo High School in 1964 and embarked on a successful career in transportation. Beginning with Murdock Trucking in 1980, he went on to retire from Sharkey Transportation in 2013, accomplishing the remarkable feat of driving over five million miles accident-free. John's commitment to safety and excellence in his profession speaks volumes about his character.
Yet, it was not just his career thatx3 defined him. John had a special bond with his family, particularly with his grandchildren. His unwavering support was evident as he rarely missed a school or sports event, proudly helping them purchase their first vehicles when they turned 16. The joy of welcoming a great-grandson born on his birthday filled his heart with immense pride. After retirement, John took on the role of a wonderful house husband, allowing his beloved wife, Connie, to continue working part-time. Together since their marriage in 1980, John and Connie created a life rich with love, laughter, and adventure.
Known for his kindness and gentle demeanor, John was a devoted family man who embraced every moment spent with loved ones. From family gatherings to cheering on grandchildren at various activities, there was nothing he cherished more than being surrounded by those he loved. John had a passion for cooking and took immense pride in his chef skills, particularly in the backyard during barbecues. His sense of humor, generosity, and hospitality left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path.
An avid dog lover, John found joy in furry companionship, going for long walks, and helping people with their vehicles. He also had a love for travel, delighting in taking cruises with Connie, creating lasting memories and stories to share.
John leaves behind his devoted wife, Connie; children Bobbi Boney, Starla Connell, Henry Jones, and Jessie Jones; treasured grandchildren Chason Connell, Jacob Connell, Christopher Connell, Elaine Zelenin, and Daniel Zelenin; as well as nine great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Kenneth, Linda, Bobby, Raney, Terry, Jeannie, and Debra.
John has been reunited in spirit with his beloved parents, Harris and Gaynell, and brothers George and Ricky, who were pebbles guiding him through the waters of life.
