John Michael
Budish, Sr.
September 27, 1946 – December 21, 2025
John Michael Budish, 79, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at his residence. John was a true baby boomer, born just after WWII. He attended St. Augustine Grade School and Don Bosco High School in Milwaukee, WI; St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN (BA Sociology); and UW-Milwaukee (MSSW Master’s of Science in Social Work). He was a social worker for many years. He switched careers and became a Business Financial Planner for MassMutual Insurance. In retirement, he worked as a Substitute Teacher mainly for the East Moline School District, and other school districts in the area as well. He was an avid collector of Marine Corps memorabilia and Stetson hats. He was also an avid nonfiction reader and was especially interested in WWII and the Civil War.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dorothy Budish. Survivors include his wife, Laurie Peschang-Budish; his brother, James (Martha Vance); his three sons, John, Jr. (Christine), Jeremy (Natalie), Christopher (Wendy); his stepchildren Nicholas J. Peschang (Kathy), Jacquelyn Henson (Jace), Christina Peschang; grandchildren, Colin Budish, Kayla Budish, Alyssa Budish, Killian Budish, Moira Budish, Nolan Budish, Ava Budish; step grandchildren, Adam Peschang, Silas Peschang, Naomi Peschang, Landon Henson, Lance Henson, Logan Henson, Cameron Overton, Kaylee Overton.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Beacon of Hope Hospice for their great comfort, compassion, and care during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled on a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
