John Howard Brunner, 85, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026 in Bettendorf, Iowa. Born on October 17, 1940, John was the beloved son of the late John R. and Adeline Brunner, of Custer, WI.

John graduated from Marquette University and went on to have a distinguished career as an electronic engineer with General Electric before retiring. John and Carol lived and raised their family in Franklin, WI before moving to Iowa in 2022. He was a man of many interests: enjoying computers, golf, watching sports, and doing crossword puzzles in his leisure time. He also served as Board President of the Suites of Bettendorf, reflecting his dedication to his community.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Carol (nee Dettling), and his loving daughters, Beth Evers and Jennifer (Steven) Hady. He was a proud grandfather to Nick, Caitlyn, Alex, Logan, and Jackson. He is also survived by his sister Jeanne (James) Dodge.

A member of St. Peter's Parish in Buffalo, Iowa, John's faith was an integral part of his life. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

John will be remembered for his contributions to his profession and community and for the love he shared with his family. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL.
