Joan Cumberworth

Joan K. Cumberworth, 80, of New Boston, IL, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. She was born on March 1946, to Sidney & Dorothy McKeag. She married Michael Cumberworth in May 1965. 

Joan was fiercely independent, strong-willed, and lived life on her own terms. After a hard-fought battle with cancer, she passed peacefully in her sleep, exactly as she wished, surrounded by love. In keeping with Joan's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Those who knew her understood that she was direct, honest, and never one for pretense. She believed relationships were meant to be lived in the present, not mourned after the fact. As she might have said herself, if you wanted to see her, you should have seen her while she was here.

Joan faced cancer with the same determination that defined her life and, in the end, met it on her own terms. She will be remembered for her strength, her independence, and her unwavering authenticity. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael, parents, and siblings Sonny, Sherry and June.
