Jeffrey L. Stenzel, born on October 4, 1951, in Geneseo, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the Allure of Geneseo. A cherished member of his community, Jeff filled the lives of all who knew him with warmth and joy.

Jeff was an active individual who graduated in 1971 from J.D. Darnall High School, where he took part in the school’s co-op program. Following his education, Jeff forged a diverse career, spending several years farming and engaging in maintenance work. However, it was his love for tinkering that truly defined his vocation and personal interests. Jeff had a remarkable ability to fix anything, from mowers to toasters, and he relished the challenge of repairing equipment that others deemed irreparable.

In addition to his practical talents, Jeff had a passion for gardening. He cultivated a variety of vegetables, generously sharing his harvest with family and friends. This spirit of giving was a testament to his kind-hearted nature—a trait mirrored in his personality, which could be described as happy-go-lucky. Jeff was known for his infectious smile and positive demeanor, making him a beloved presence in the lives of those around him.

Throughout his life, Jeff cherished the moments spent fishing, particularly during family trips up north. These memories remain a treasured legacy, encapsulating the essence of family time that he so deeply valued.

Jeff is survived by his loving siblings: Sharon L. Desjardins and her husband DJ Desjardins, Pamela K. VanQuakebeke and her husband Eugene VanQuakebeke, Steven W. Stenzel and his wife Lori L. Stenzel, and Julie A. Chapman and her husband Maurus P. Chapman. Additionally, he is survived by his aunt Dixie E. (McKinzie) Lund and her husband Don W. Lund, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William H. Stenzel and Janet A. (McKinzie) Stenzel; his brother Michael Stenzel; and his grandparents, Harold G. Stenzel and Lula (Swanson) Stenzel, as well as Charles E. McKinzie and Cobie N. (Miller) McKinzie.

Jeffrey L. Stenzel was a devoted brother, a caring uncle, and a faithful friend. His legacy of joy, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
