Jeanette “JJ” Brown, a dedicated and compassionate woman admired for her strength and selflessness, passed away on April 20, 2026. Born on August 24, 1973, JJ’s life was marked by a steadfast commitment to her family, her work, and the joy she found in everyday moments despite the challenges she faced.

JJ graduated from UTHS in 1991. Married her high school sweetheart Jason Kauer and had 3 children together. She earned her Certified Dietary Manager license in 2022, showcasing her dedication to her profession. She most recently served with distinction at Hope Creek, where she managed the dietary department, providing care and nourishment with compassion and expertise. Prior to this, she spent several years as the Dietary Manager at Aspen Rehab in Silvis until its closing. Throughout her career, JJ’s focus remained on helping others, reflecting the generous spirit she carried deep within her.

Known affectionately by her nickname “JJ,” she was a smart, loving, and endlessly selfless woman. Despite enduring a hard life and ongoing health struggles, she never hesitated to offer support to those around her all while pretending everything was okay. Her humor was effortless and her love for life was evident in all she did. JJ enjoyed reading books, immersing herself in video games, and her computer, but above all, she cherished the moments she shared with her family and grand babies. 

Her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her universe. She delighted in exploring new places with her family, treasuring every opportunity to create lasting memories and bring happiness to those she loved.

JJ is survived by her daughter Erica Kauer, her sons Adam Kauer and Derek Kauer (and his girlfriend Kayla), and her treasured grandchildren A’Shiyah, Alijah, Damian, Kyrie, Aurora, Avery, Abram, and Kinsley. She is also survived by her brothers Ryan Brown, Kevin Brown (and his wife Anita), and Nick Brown, as well as her nieces, nephews, and several cousins who all hold her dearly in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her father Dwayne Brown, mother Deborah Brown, Baby K, Gramma Brown, Gramma Violet, and Uncle Keith, whose memories she lovingly carried with her.

Jeanette “JJ” Brown’s life was a testament to courage, perseverance, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy of strong will and kindness that will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her. Her family and friends will miss her deeply, yet remain comforted by the thought that she’s no longer hurting and reunited with her mom and dad.
