Janet Kay Parker, born on December 18, 1947, and peacefully passing on April 24, 2025, leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was known for her playful spirit and her heartwarming ability to bring smiles to those around her. Janet's unique sense of humor often involved teasing, an endearing trait that endeared her to many. Her laughter was infectious, and her presence brightened countless lives.
A proud graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois, Janet’s educational journey enriched her life and deepened her connections with others. She embraced her faith fiercely, spending countless hours with her beloved Bible, and found immense joy in singing hymns to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in sign language.
Family was everything to Janet. She is survived by her beloved son, Jay Belk, and his wife, Mary; her cherished grandson, Andrew Belk, accompanied by his wife, Sarha, and cherished granddaughter, Destinee Belk, and her great-grandchildren, Arseona Blakes, Kyranese Belk, and Azariah Jones. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, reflecting her love and guidance in their lives.
Close to her heart was her best friend and sister in Christ, Janet Haynes who provided companionship and support through thick and thin. Together they shared a bond that transcended friendship, rooted in shared faith and understanding.
Janet also had a special place in her heart for her cherished dog, Tiny, who accompanied her through life’s ups and downs, offering comfort and companionship. Janet found joy in simple pleasures—she enjoyed drawing, engaging in puzzles, doing crafts and playing games of Uno. These hobbies complemented her steadfast dedication to her family and friends, as she loved spending quality time with each of them, forever creating memories that would last a lifetime.
The loss of Janet leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be sorely missed, but her laughter, love, and faith-based joy will forever resonate in the lives she touched. Janet Kay Parker’s spirit remains vibrant through the love and memories shared by all those who knew her, assuring that her legacy will never fade.
