Jamy Richard Ashby

Jamy Ashby, 51 years of age, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at his home in Le Claire, IA, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 7, 1975, Jamy's life was marked by exciting adventures and good times.

Jamy attended both the Pleasant Valley and Bettendorf school districts. In his younger years, he eagerly participated in softball and baseball leagues, nurturing a love for athletics that stayed with him throughout his life. A loyal fan, Jamy proudly supported the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes, embracing every opportunity to cheer for his favorite teams.

Professionally, Jamy dedicated two decades to roofing and construction, working alongside his brother Tom Ashby at Ashby Roofing. More recently, Jamy contributed his talents to maintenance work with The Maintenance Crew.

Jamy found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies and interests. On weekends, one could often find him playing Bags, golfing, or fishing—activities that brought him relaxation and pleasure. Music held a special place in his heart, especially the performances of his stepfather’s band, Smooth Groove, which he enthusiastically followed and supported.

Jamy cherished his family. He shared a special bond with his daughter, Paige (Drake), and was always so happy to spend time with his precious granddaughter, Lydia. He eagerly awaited the birth of his grandson. His partner, Rhonda Neal, stood by his side, sharing in the everyday moments, the good times, the hard times, and the treasured memories. Jamy was son to Patricia (Dewy) Lacefield and a loyal brother to Tom (Veronica) Ashby. His larger family circle included many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who held him dear.

Jamy’s life was shaped by the legacy of close family members, including his father, William P. Ashby Sr., his brother William P. Ashby Jr., cousin David Fisher, and grandmothers Katherine Schwarz and Connie Ashby, all of whom preceded him in death.

Jamy Ashby’s presence illuminated the lives of many, and his passing leaves a profound void. Yet, his spirit forever endures in the love he shared and the memories cherished by all who knew and loved him.
