James "Willy" Williams, 76, of Rock Island, IL, passed away on October 2, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL.

Jim was born in Moline, Illinois on November 20, 1949 to Howard "Bud" and Barbara (Jones) Williams. He attended Moline High School.

On November 20,1971, he married the love of his life Kathy Edmonds. He was employed by the City of Moline in the Sanitation Department then transferred to Sewer Maintenance Department for a total of 25 years. He then went to work at Heart of America helping with constructing of new buildings.

His hobbies included working in the yard, gardening, boating and most of all he loves spending time with all his family and friends. He was quite the "jokester" and was known as "Crazy Willy". He was a proud Cubs and Bears fan.

His survivors include his wife Kathy of 54 wonderful years. Daughters; Stephanie Thorington and Monica (Nathan) Crotty. Sisters; Brenda (Doug) Plank, Vicki (Tom) Rudd and Sister in Law Lois Czupka. Grandchildren include; Shelagh Williams, Whitney (Daniel) Perales, Jacob (Madison) Crotty. Great Grandchildren; Kodie, Renezmae, Amias, Abel, Sophia and Graham. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Grandparents, Step Father, infant brother and two Grandson's, Cody and Travis.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 1-4pm at the Rock Island Moose Lodge, 4410 9th Street, Rock Island, Illinois. 

Jim's family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the team of St. Croix Hospice for your compassion and professionalism. We remember not only the care you provided, but also the kindness you showed every step of the way.  Because of you, he was able to spend his final days feeling safe, comfortable and loved.
