James was born July 13, 1960, to Milton and Betty Dean in Moline and died May 9, 2023, in Davenport after a brief illness. Cremation rites have been accorded, with a private burial to follow. James was a correctional officer in Quad Cities and Phoenix for several years. Upon his return from Arizona, he pursued a career in the automotive industry at Hiland Toyota.

James is survived by sister Cynthia (Mark) Cornell of Peosta, IA; brothers Robert (Mary) and Milton, Moline, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents.
