Gregory Demont Temple, 68, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, in Davenport.
Greg grew up with a love for school and a passion for football. At the age of 13, he was baptized at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church (Pastor Edward Dubois) in Meridian, Mississippi under Pastor Timothy Graham. This was a milestone that shaped his lifelong love for the Lord and devotion to studying the Word of God. He attended Clarkdale Attendance Center and then enrolled in trade school for brick masonry and big truck mechanics. He took immense pride in his work, and was employed by Wenger Truck Line in the skillful repair of semi-tractor trailers and was a foreman for E & J Metal and Salvage Co. in Rock Island, IL. A true entrepreneur at heart, Greg owned and operated a janitorial company in Tennessee. Beyond his professional accomplishments, He had a gift for bringing people together and cherished every moment spent with his family. His daily discussions about Scripture with his nephew and dear friend, Sherrard Robinson, Sr., were a source of great joy and spiritual growth.
Greg married Jacqueline (Trice) Temple in 2019. They were together for twelve years and shared a deep and loving bond. They enjoyed movie dates, walking through their neighborhood, studying The Word, and watching the Saints play. Their life together was filled with faith, laughter, and a strong commitment to family.
Greg was known for his style; every outfit was completed with a sharp crease and just the right hat. He had a well-known love for a clean Cadillac and carried himself with pride and dignity, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Greg leaves behind his loving wife, Jacqueline Temple of Davenport, IA; his children, Toriano (Roxann) Temple of Davenport, IA, and Philiomena Griffin Of Meridian, MS; his stepchildren, Chavaras (Krystall) Trice of Rock Island, IL, Marcus Trice of Rock Island, IL, Courtney Trice of Silvis, IL, and LaCresha Linton of Gloversville, New York; his grandchildren, Jessica Hopkins, Terra Hopkins, Aswan Patton, Jakavion Griffin, and Andricious Patton.
