Geri Heston

June 28, 1956 — May 20, 2025

Geri Jolene Heston, born on June 28, 1956, in Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Davenport, Iowa. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, known for her radiant spirit and unwavering love for her family.

Geri was the daughter of Arthur and Betty Conklin, who preceded her in death, along with Kevin Carter, her sister Patricia Hart. She is survived by her loving husband, Scott Heston, whom she married on December 3, 2018. Her legacy continues through her children: Ryan Carter, Eric Carter, Adam Carter, and Jacob Carter, and she was proud of her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and laughter.

A proud alumna of Augustana College from 1974 to 1978, Geri carved out a successful career in project management at Genesis Health Systems, where she worked from 1994 until her passing in 2025. Her dedication and leadership earned her the esteemed Legend Award, a testament to her hard work and professionalism.

Geri was not only a dedicated professional but also a passionate advocate for her community. She actively participated in organizations like Wounded Warrior, Camp Courageous, and the Salvation Army, where she made significant contributions and fostered meaningful connections. Her commitment to helping others reflected her generous heart and compassionate nature.

An avid traveler, Geri loved exploring new places, and her adventures often became cherished stories she shared with her family. Gardening was another passion of hers; she found joy in nurturing plants and watching them bloom, much like the love she cultivated within her family. Above all, Geri treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, sharing laughter, love, and life lessons through her unique lens of kindness.

Geri was also a talented figure and dance skating instructor, teaching many individuals the beauty of movement and the joy of self-expression. Her enthusiasm for teaching and her nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of learning from her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any monetary donations be made to Wounded Warrior, Camp Courageous, or the Salvation Army, as these organizations held a special place in Geri's heart.

A private funeral service will be held to honor Geri's life and legacy. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the remarkable impact she had on everyone who knew her. Geri Jolene Heston will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, inspiring us to love fiercely and give generously.

The celebration of life will be June 29th, 2025, at the Eldridge Community Center from 5 pm to 8 pm.
