Gary Wayne Moore, a cherished soul and a beloved father, husband, grandfather, and friend, departed this world on January 16, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on June 20, 1941, in Medford, Oregon, Gary’s life was woven with the threads of adventure, dedication, and an enduring love for the great outdoors.

Educated at Rogue River High School, it was there that he met his first wife, Patty Cowie, who became the mother of his beloved children.

A man of many talents, Gary embarked on a varied and remarkable career that reflected his diverse passions and prominent skills. He founded Beaver Air Taxi, a flight-seeing business based on the picturesque Lake Hood in Anchorage, Alaska, where he shared his love for flying and the awe-inspiring beauty of nature with countless visitors. Prior to embracing his entrepreneurial spirit, Gary served as an Anchorage Airport Policeman, a testament to his unwavering commitment to duty and community. His professional journey also took him through the demanding job of working on the Alaska Pipeline. He had an honorable career in the United States Navy, where he utilized his skills as an aircraft mechanic stationed on Whidbey Island, Washington & Kodiak, Alaska. This is where his love of flying bloomed.

In addition to his various accomplishments, Gary was known for his industrious spirit and an unwavering love for God; traits that shaped him into a man admired by all who knew him. His heart found joy in the simple pleasures of life — whether it was tinkering in his garage, embracing the thrill of hunting and fishing, or savoring the serene moments spent flying through the vast Alaskan skies. Each experience intertwined him more deeply with nature, solidifying a lifelong passion that he eagerly shared with his children, instilling the same sense of wonder and appreciation for the outdoors.

Gary is survived by his children, James Moore and Julie (Moore) Neal, his beloved grandchildren: Sam, Ben, Sarah, and Gus, his Nephews Michael & Danny Moore, and his stepson, Rod Hill, and stepdaughter, Richelle (Hill) Schoenborn.

His children and grandchildren carry forward the legacy of his zest for life, boundless love, sense of adventure, and those cherished memories of camping, fishing, hiking, and exploring the wilderness.

He now rejoins those who have passed before him, notably his dear wife, Dee Moore, and his parents, Colista and Roy Moore, along with his brother Hal and sister Marilee. Though he has left this earthly realm, the spirit of Gary will forever resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He lived fully, loved deeply, and inspired others to embrace the beauty of the world around them. As we remember him, let us celebrate a life well-lived, rich in adventure, kindness, and unwavering faith.

A small family gathering to celebrate his life will take place in Rogue River, Oregon, in the Spring.
