Frances Martin

May 8, 1963 — June 25, 2025

Frances M. Martin, of Davenport, Iowa, entered her eternal rest on June 25, 2025, surrounded by her son, father, and lifelong partner. She was born on May 8, 1963, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Frank Martin and Mary Martin (Collins).

She is survived by her father, Frank Martin; mother, Mary Collins; brothers, James Buchanan and John Martin; sister, Maryanne Buchanan; her children, Francine Martin, Wesley McQuillen, and Thomas Martin; her beloved grandchildren, Alex, Quency, Selena, and Zora; and her partner of 33 years, Dave Sexton.

Frances was preceded in death by her cherished grandfather, John Martin, who held a special place in her heart; her brother, Thomas Buchanan; and her sisters, Yvonne Cornejo, Christine Buchanan, and Audrey Buchanan.

Frances was an avid bike rider, a passionate kayaker, a skilled jewelry maker, and a creative furniture refinisher. She was known for her curiosity, independence, and being a bit of a “know-it-all” — something those who loved her wouldn’t have changed for the world. She found joy and peace at Mt. Joy Quarry, on the Mississippi River, and at Credit Island. Her strong spirit, presence, and unforgettable advice will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor on July 19, 2025, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Geezers Draft House, 1654 W. 3rd St., Davenport, IA 52802.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on her memory wall at mvcremation.com.
