Elizabeth G. Smith, 85, of Davenport, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

A celebration of life is to be scheduled at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family. Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, Moline, is handling arrangements.

Elizabeth was born on February 27, 1938, in Peoria, the daughter of John “Dick” and Margarette (Fields) Searle. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Smith on December 21, 1957.

Elizabeth enjoyed video games, flowers, puzzles, yard work, thrift shopping, and spending time with family. Her dogs, Sam, Suzie, Duke, and Dutchess were her pride and joy. She renewed her faith March 28, 2023. She spent many years housekeeping at Osteopathic Hospital and then at the Steeplegate Inn.

Those left to honor her memory include children, Margarette Wulgaert, Lester (Julia) Smith, Candy Smith, Robert Smith, Millie (Steve) VanRycke, Donnie (Tammy O’Neil) Smith, Alma (Bubba) Eder, Bonnie (Shane) Hutchison, Mary (Jeff) Stigers, John (Sue) Searle, Willie (Kathy) Tyson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Stumpo, sisters-in-law, Bonnie Bryant and Deb Searle; and several adoptive kids from the neighborhood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smith; her parents, Richard and Margarette Searle; siblings John R. Searle III, Leora “Jean” LaCock, Maxine Schoenbein, Darrell Searle and Dale Searle; and granddaughter Melissa Sue Hutchison.
