Dwight Holmes, a respected member of the Davenport community and a dedicated professional in the field of auto body repair, passed away peacefully at his home on April 19, 2026. Born in Davenport, Iowa, on August 15, 1958, Dwight's life was marked by a profound commitment to his craft and to the people who knew him.

Dwight graduated from Davenport West High School in 1976, demonstrating early on a strong work ethic and dedication to his education. He further pursued his passion by enrolling in and graduating from the Scott Community College Auto Body Repair program in 1978. His expertise and commitment to excellence led him to own and operate Holmes Body Shop, where he gained the respect of customers and colleagues alike for his skill and integrity.

Beyond his entrepreneurial ventures, Dwight generously shared his knowledge as an instructor of auto body repair at Scott Community College, shaping the careers of many aspiring professionals. His extensive experience extended into insurance claims adjuster roles with several insurance companies over 28 years, showcasing his versatility and deep understanding of his field.

Dwight’s life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Michelle (Watson) Holmes; his sons, Jeffrey Holmes and his wife Courtney, with whom he shared treasured moments alongside his grandchildren, Harlan and Julianna Nolen; and his son Brandon Holmes. Their presence speaks to the strong bonds and family values Dwight cherished throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary (Voss) Holmes, as well as his grandparents, Clifford and Mary Voss, whose legacy he carried forward with admiration and respect.

Dwight Holmes will be remembered not only for his professional achievements and dedication to his craft but also for the warmth and kindness he brought to his family, friends, and community. His contributions, both personal and professional, leave a lasting impact that honors his memory.
