Donna Rae Copeland (Mathys) passed away peacefully in her Davenport, Iowa, home, surrounded by her children, on November 7, 2025.

Donna graduated from Keokuk Senior High in 1973 and later earned a degree from Southeastern Community College of Nursing in 1992. She dedicated many years to her work as a Registered Nurse, sharing her exceptional care and compassion for helping others before retiring to enjoy her passions for gardening and family.

A devoted woman of faith, Donna was a member of the Second United Presbyterian Church of Keokuk, Iowa. She shared her musical talents by singing in the choir and playing the organ and piano, and she was also the church’s first female Teenage Elder.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Meeves Mathys and Margaret Virginia Mathys of Keokuk, Iowa, and her granddaughter, Charley Decker of Des Moines, Iowa.

She is survived by her two children, two sisters, numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is lovingly remembered by:

• Her daughter, Dena Spray (Decker), and her husband, Nathan Spray, of Reddick, Florida, and their son, Wesley Carl Spray.

• Her son, Travis Decker, and his significant other, Juana Gutierrez, of Des Moines, Iowa, and their son, A.J. Decker.

• Her sister, Bonnie Leach, and her significant other, Mike Talk, of Davenport, Iowa, and her children, Tony Leach and Katie Leach.

• Her sister, Lila Vaught, and her husband, Paul Vaught, of Wichita, Kansas, and her son, Craig Dieker.

Per Donna’s wishes, a private celebration of her life and burial at Kahoka, Missouri, will be conducted in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Donna’s name to the Southeastern Community College of Nursing or Genesis Hospice of Davenport, Iowa.
