Listen to Obituary

Donald Mark Kline, 68, of Lynn Center, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.  Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  Internment will be at Western Township Cemetery, Orion IL at a later date.

Don was born in Bloomington IL to Ralph and Ann McShane Kline on September 14, 1957.  He married Donna Boron Kline on April 1, 1991 in Rock Island IL at Sunset Marina where he spent many years on his boat enjoying the Mississippi River.

A man of many hats, he will be remembered for his insatiable appetite for information. He would have a conversation with anybody for however long they could give him, and never felt constrained by the usual bounds of small talk - there was always something he'd just been reading about that he wanted to discuss. On road trips, he was prone to finding any interesting, or not so interesting, event or attraction by the side of the road between us and our destination, and found ways to enjoy them regardless. Once Don retired, he had all the time to spend out on the golf course which he did.

Left to remember Don is his loving wife Donna, daughter Jennifer (Tony) Strode, sons Alexander (Katie) Kline, Nicholas Kline and Zachary (Emma) Kline.  He will be missed by his grandchildren:  Macy, Loxley, Wiley & Tinsley Strode, Josephine & Tobias Kline, his brother Rory Kline, as well as his bonus mom, Doris Kline. Of course, long time family friend Patrick Mulloy, and finally by all his nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother David Kline.

A special thank you goes to Mark from Trinity hospice for all the care and conversations he gave Don.

Memorials can be made to the Hope Lodge in Iowa City, IA.
