Dennis Eugene “Denny” Wittrock, 69, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. Born on July 6, 1956, in Davenport, Denny’s life was characterized by hard work, unwavering loyalty, and the joy he so effortlessly brought to everyone around him.

Denny dedicated 19 years of his career to the Scott County Courthouse and Jail in the Facility and Support Services (FSS) department, where he earned respect and admiration from colleagues through his remarkable work ethic. Known for his reliability and commitment, he made a lasting impact in the workplace while pairing dedication with an easy, infectious sense of humor.

Denny had a hard head that was often softened by a deeply kind heart. His personality came through in the unexpected one-liners he shared and in the warmth he offered to everyone he met. His family will always remember how he could lighten a moment without trying, right up to his last breath. His laughter could fill a room, and his kindness showed in the love he gave so freely.

Throughout his life, Denny embraced a multitude of passions, including a deep love of firearms, an unwavering allegiance to the Iowa Hawkeyes, and, above all, his role as a father. Raising his children, Kevin and Amanda, brought him immense pride, and his bond with his granddaughter, Brooklynn, was a source of pure joy that anyone could see.

He leaves behind two devoted children, Kevin Wittrock (and wife Nicole), along with their daughter Brooklynn, and Amanda Wittrock (and fiancé Andrew Woods). He is also survived by his mother, Mary (Brown) Wittrock, his brother, Marty Wittrock (and wife Liz), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Wittrock, whose influence helped shape the man Denny became.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Denny will remember his humor, his fierce loyalty, and the quiet yet powerful ways he expressed love. His legacy of kindness will continue to inspire those he left behind. If there is ever a time when you do not feel you have the strength it takes to be gentle and kind, remember you can borrow some of his; there was always more than enough to go around.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Humane Society of Scott County, honoring Denny’s lifelong love of animals. As we celebrate the life of Dennis Wittrock, we carry forward his spirit of kindness, laughter, and devotion to family, a true testament to the remarkable man he was.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL.

Celebration of Life will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Mississippi Valley Cremation & Direct Burial, Moline, IL.
