David Bryan Calmer, affectionately known as Rock and Dr. DAVE to those fortunate enough to know him, passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2026. Born on October 2, 1957, in Moline, David lived a life marked by warmth, humor, and an abiding love for those closest to him—and of course, his cherished five fur babies who brought him immeasurable joy.
David was a man gifted with a constant smile and a good joke, traits that endeared him to family and friends alike. His lighthearted spirit was a balm during difficult times, and his laughter filled every room he entered. Beyond his jovial nature, David's heart was vast, and his especially when it came to his wife and beloved pets, whose companionship he treasured deeply.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife and soulmate, Nancy Calmer, whose unwavering love and partnership enriched his life beyond measure. David’s family was central to his world; surviving sisters Brenda Reid and Karen Calmer, his stepson Dennis Housby (Desiree) along with Joshua Housby and Tim Housby (Jesi), and Michael Otten all carry forward his legacy. He was also a proud father to four daughters—Erica, Patty, Cathy, and Michele—who were constant sources of pride and joy. His extended family of many nieces and nephews and grandchildren as well a great granddaughter also cherish his memory, each holding a special place for the uncle.
David’s passing also brings a poignant remembrance of those who preceded him in death: his beloved son Bryan and his devoted parents, Gene and Pat Calmer. Though their absence is deeply felt, David’s enduring love for them continued to shine throughout his life’s journey.
In remembering David Bryan Calmer, we celebrate more than just his years; we celebrate a life full of laughter, devotion, and love. His presence was a gift, his kindness a beacon, and his memory will remain forever etched in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Dr. DAVE—your story touched us all, and your spirit will live on in every smile and warm thought shared in your honor.
